JESSICA MEAKIN – Violin Teacher

Jessica is recognised as a distinctive and accomplished performer and has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree studying violin with Bartosz Woroch at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

 

Prior to this, she spent two years studying privately in Madrid with renowned pedagogue Sergey Fatkulin, ex-assistant of Zakhar Bron, travelling there every month for lessons. During this period, she was also regularly invited to perform in the Llanes Music Festival in North-West Spain. Jessica is currently studying for her Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music with Sasha Rozhdestvensky.

 

Jessica is the co-leader of the Fidelio Orchestra and regularly plays with the RCM Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras conducted by Thomas Zehetmair and Martyn Brabbins. Her time at GSMD saw her perform extensively with their Symphony Orchestra working with renowned conductors; Michael Tilson Thomas, Thomas Søndergård, Vassily Sinaisky, Jessica Cottis and Nicholas Collon.

 

Jessica is a founding member of her Piano Quartet The De Kooning Ensemble who were the recent recipients of the Guildhall School’s Ivan Sutton Prize 2021. She enjoys playing a wide variety of styles of music and has played with the Guildhall Studio Orchestra directed by Malcolm Edmonstone. She has extensive experience as a pit musician and has played for Musical Theatre group Roles We’ll Never Play, the West End Eurovision directed by Matheson Bayley, The Sound of Music at New Hall School, the Guildhall School of Music’s production of Fiddler on the Roof under Musical Director Steven Edis and SLYT’s production of Sweeny Todd under Joe Hood. Earlier this year, she also had the opportunity to record an original cast soundtrack for a new musical ‘Between’ where she played first violin.

 

Jessica is passionate about outreach and is committed to music education. Alongside being a regular member of Social Staff and a Violin Mentor with the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, she has delivered workshops to children in multiple London primary schools throughout her studies. She has also coached students at Bryanston School, Trull Primary School and CYM Taunton with The De Kooning Ensemble. 

 

Jessica is generously loaned a Bernadel violin dated 1844 by Stephen Thomas
